Why Fence?

The motor activity of fencing is naturally geared towards improving fitness and health. Besides, fencing is really fun.

Young children have a natural interest in swords but come to find fencing's sheer pleasure with its outbursts of energy, high level of arousal, and a feeling of gaining competence.
A fencing bout with its mixture of victory and defeat, creates tense and exciting situations in which ambition, courage and decision making or tactical cleverness are key.

Fencing is a fast, versatile, game of skills, for many levels of abilities.

What You Will Learn In Beginning Fencing ?

Each class will start with a fun warm up to improve conditioning and flexibility.  Warming up and stretching is important to help prevent injuries in any sport.

Beginners will develop a basic vocabulary and learn the movements of fencing. Skills are introduced and practiced with rotating partners. When beginners are ready they will bout with other students. All instruction is under the supervision of accredited coaches. Students will learn about fencing safety and the importance of protective gear and fencing rules.
